The problem

We live in an era of rapid, unpredictable changes. Our world is marked by unprecedented social, economic and environmental challenges.

But traditional leadership models haven’t caught up to the new reality and its demands. Many organizations still struggle to use their full human potential for sustainable impact.

Already in 2015, a staggering 86% of respondents in the World Economic Forum’s Survey on the Global Agenda said we face a global leadership crisis.

And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, this crisis has become even clearer.

The responsible leadership gaps that were present for decades have now been amplified, like in a magnifying glass. Operational deficiencies that were the well-known yet often unspoken reality have now come to the fore.

Responsible leadership

We have developed a broad framework for responsible leadership that is:

  • Rooted in principles of ethics: responsibility, integrity and accountability; modeling and driving shared responsibility, integrity and positive accountability across the organizational structures and processes.
  • Centered around people and the human potential across flexible and dynamic teams; engaging people in decision-making and problem solving and empowering them to act together for the benefit of all; building diverse, bias-free relationships based on empathy, trust and mutual respect.
  • Driven by a shared purpose for sustainable social impact; understanding the big picture, inspiring and guiding a collective, positive change that is responsive to people’s needs and rooted in shared values and a common purpose.

This new formula for leadership is needed to address the world’s most pressing problems. Many of today’s leaders realize that their organizations must change the way they operate. But few know how to make it happen.
